Ceylon Tea produced in the resplendent island nation Sri Lanka is recognized for her well balanced tasting profile all over the globe. Tea is the 4th largest GDP contributor of this pretty island nation following expatriates, Apparel and tourism. Ten percent of Sri Lankan population is involved directly or indirectly in tea industry. So tea plays a vital role in Sri Lankan economy. By the way, Sri Lanka Tea Board has initiated a global promotion campaign for Ceylon Tea with the assistance of government.

As Sri Lanka Tea Board had reported, The much awaited Ceylon Tea Global Campaign is finally due to initiate in September 2019 from the Russian Federation. During the First Round, the other nations scheduled to commence the program are Ukraine and Germany in October as well as China & Japan in November during the current year. The balance 07 countries (Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, UAE, USA, Chile and Australia) will be covered during year 2020. This is a Rs.4.5 billion (roughly USD 25 million) worth campaign targeting key & emerging markets for Ceylon Tea. In March 2018, Sri Lanka Tea Board signed an agreement with Dentsu Grant to promote Sri Lankan Tea across 12 markets. The campaign is expected to create awareness of the Ceylon Tea brand, particularly among the younger generation and to differentiate the authentic Ceylon Tea product, which would help Ceylon Tea reposition itself as a top brand, among quality tea drinkers.

Uniqueness of Ceylon Tea

According to a claim made by the ISO, Ceylon Tea is the Cleanest Tea origin in the world considering pesticide residues. United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) has also recognized Ceylon Tea as the First Ozone friendly / Ethical Tea Origin in the world. Even though Sri Lanka is a small Island, the diversity (Regional difference) of Ceylon Tea is quite amazing. One would enjoy a light, fragrant Nuwara-Eliya Tea from the highest mountain peak with Citrus notes while another is enjoying a strong, full bodied Ruhuna Tea from down south. Sensory-wise, Ceylon Tea has got a well-balanced taste with ideal strength, flavor and aroma.
