More About Nuwara-Eliya Regional Tea,

One might call this Ceylon Nuwara-Eliya Regional (Black) Tea as the Champagne of Ceylon Tea due to it’s unique sensory profile. Grown in the highest Elevations in the resplendent island nation”Sri Lanka”. Only very few number of factories (Lover’s Leap, Mahagastota, Court Lodge and Concordia) can achieve this special character, Just like Darjeeling Muscatel character can be experienced only in 12 estates.

As you can see the Tea is light, but very fragrant with sweet / citrus like notes. Ideal for an afternoon Tea with some Lime / Butter cake + cucumber sandwiches (This sounds great, isn’t it ?). Even though this Tea is categorized as a Black Tea, the Character is more like an Oolong variety. Fermentation and Drying times are lower to preserve the flavor / aroma. Quality is quite consistent through out the year, but in general , peak season is February – March .

Nuwara-Eliya Regional Tea from Pedro Estate (Lover’s Leap & Mahagastota factories) was served for the Guests who participated for the Diamond Jubilee function of The Queen Elizabeth II. Later, a cup of Pedro Tea was sold for USD 40.
