Afternoon Tea Award Winners in UK
Tea is a way of life in Great Britain. Following the introduction of tea by Portuguese princess Catherine in 1660 AD, Brits slowly developed their love affair with this wonderful, calming, stimulating and refreshing beverage. Eventually tea became the national beverage of this island nation. Few centuries ago, due to the long gap between lunch and dinner, Brits (specially house wives) were searching for an alternative to get rid of little hunger. As a result, they used to have some cookies, short eats etc in the afternoon around 3 o’clock. Of course, they didn’t forget to add their favorite beverage “Tea”. That’s how afternoon tea became a part of British Tea culture. But later on because of busy lifestyle, consumers found it difficult to enjoy a steaming pot of tea at home. As a result, more and more hotels and restaurants started serving afternoon tea.
By the mean time, AFTERNOON TEA.CO.UK announced the best venues in the UK to sip a sumptuous Tea have been named in the Afternoon Tea Awards 2019.
Four awards were presented:
- Best Traditional Afternoon Tea – The Savoy
- Best Contemporary Afternoon Tea – Cadogan’s by Adam Handling
- Best Themed Afternoon Tea – The Berkeley
- Best Tea Service – Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

The award ceremony was held in the elegant 5-star surroundings of The Mirror Room at Rosewood London and were also sponsored by new restaurant reservation system, Time For Food.
