Ceylon Tea Added Colours to “CHASHKA” (Cup) Festival in Moscow
Tea is a ways of life in Russia. Russia imports tea mainly from Sri Lanka and India. Ceylon Tea coming from the resplendent island nation, Sri Lanka is recognized for her well balanced tasting profile by tea connoisseurs all over the globe. Sri Lanka Tea Board is the government body which is responsible for international promotion of Pure Ceylon Tea. On 28th and 29th August 2021 Sri Lanka Tea Board participated at the “CHASHKA” (Cup) festival, which took place on the territory of the Museum of Moscow in the city centre.
The “ CHASHKA” festival is a large-scale summer festival for tea, coffee and chocolate lovers, an unforgettable and colorful event, which included presentations, educational programs, master classes, tasting sessions and competitions. This year more than 130 companies including Russian and foreign producers, importers of tea, coffee and cocoa were presented their products. The target audience of the event is mainly the younger generation.
The wooden Ceylon Tea stand attracted many of visitors, which was featuring teas from seven unique regions in Sri Lanka and some of major tea grades popular in Russia. The Ceylon tea counter was represented by Mr. Tishan De Silva, Third secretary of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia and 3 demonstrators including a Russian translator wearing traditional Sri Lankan Osari.
On the second day, Sri Lanka Tea Board had an opportunity to attend in 1 hour tea tasting session, which took place in the Brewing Bar – separate space in the same pavilion. Thus, Ceylon tea was introduced on 2 terrains at a time.
According to the organizers, nearly 9,000 people attended the festival.
This kind of promotion activities / events are so vital for the betterment of Sri Lankan Tea industry. Simply speaking, Ceylon Tea is a Pure Enhancement in A Cup !
