Ceylon Tea Backs Sri Lanka Women’s Netball Team @ World Cup in UK

As Tea Board had reported, Mr. Jayantha Edirisinghe, acting Director General of Sri Lanka Tea Board and Mrs. Trixie Jayantha Nanayakkara, President of Netball Federation of Sri Lanka signed the Sponsorship agreement on 2nd April 2019. As the Exclusive Official Overseas Partner, Sri Lanka Tea Board plans to conduct promotional events parallel to the World Netball Tournament in Liverpool with the collaboration of Sri Lankan High Commission in United Kingdom to promote ‘Pure Ceylon Tea’ in UK.
United Kingdom has got the honor of introducing tea to Sri Lanka. Scottish planter Mr. James Taylor is the one who initiated commercial tea cultivation in this wonderful island nation. Eventually, tea became an important part of Sri Lankan economy and almost 10% of total population is engaged directly and indirectly with tea trade.
