Ceylon Tea Ceremony @ Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing, China
Being so passionate on tea, Chinese consumers know exactly how to select good teas. even though China is the largest tea producer in the world, other origin black teas have already made in roads to this massive nation. Among them, Ceylon tea coming from the beautiful island nation, Sri Lanka holds the largest share for imported black teas in China. In 2017, China had imported almost 10 million kilos of Ceylon tea. By the meantime, Sri Lanka Tea Board (http://www.pureceylontea.com/) the government body responsible for Ceylon Tea promotion worldwide had arranged a Tea Ceremony event along with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing at the Embassy premises under the guidance of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Karunasena Kodithuwakku.
The visitors were gifted with tea packs and assisted to conduct Ceylon Tea tasting session highlighting seven regional teas and Uva (Eastern slopes of Sri Lanka) Organic tea. The Embassy staff made Sri Lankan savories / snacks for the serving with tea. Mrs. Shani Kalyanarathne Karunarathne had given her support to invite diplomatic officials and coordination the event from the inception. Mr. Sampath Perera, Third Secretary- Tea Promotion delivered a presentation about Uniqueness of the Ceylon tea and Health benefits of Tea at the tea ceremony.
Chinese Government officials, Diplomatic officials from the Missions, Ceylon tea agents in China, and Media agents in Beijing participated this wonderful tea ceremony.
These PR events are really vital to uplift the generic brand image of “Ceylon Tea” in medium and long term.
