Ceylon Tea Global Campaign Ceremonially Launched in Moscow

Ceylon Tea produced in the resplendent island nation Sri Lanka is recognized for her well balanced tasting profile by tea connoisseurs all over the globe. Tea is the 4th largest GDP contributor of this pretty island nation following expatriates, Apparel and tourism. Ten percent of Sri Lankan population is involved directly or indirectly in tea industry. So tea plays a vital role in Sri Lankan economy. By the meantime, As Sri Lanka Tea Board had reported, The eagerly awaited Global Ceylon Tea Promotion Campaign was ceremonially launched in Moscow, Russia on 25th of September 2019 with a Media Conference participated by many prominent press, radio, TV, Magazine and online channels as well as a Gala Evening at the prestigious Lotte Hotel, Moscow in the presence of a large gathering of VVIPs, stakeholder members of the Sri Lanka Tea industry, Russian Tea Trade, Tea Board & Ministry of Plantation Industries officials etc.

This was the first effort made by the Sri Lanka Tea Board in partnership with Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow. It is expected that the campaign will provide a tremendous boost for the awareness of Pure Ceylon Tea among the end consumers, particularly focused on the millennials and the young adults.

During the First Round, the other nations scheduled to commence the program are Ukraine and Germany in October as well as China & Japan in November during the current year. The balance 07 countries (Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, UAE, USA, Chile and Australia) will be covered during year 2020. This is a Rs.4.5 billion (roughly USD 25 million) worth campaign targeting key & emerging markets for Ceylon Tea.

In March 2018, Sri Lanka Tea Board signed an agreement with Dentsu Grant to promote Sri Lankan Tea across 12 markets. The campaign is expected to create awareness of the Ceylon Tea brand, particularly among the younger generation and to differentiate the authentic Ceylon Tea product, which would help Ceylon Tea re-position itself as a top brand, among quality tea drinkers.

Even though there are many criticisms on target markets and the strategy, the campaign has now begun. If you have a great product, it’s easier to market. Ceylon Tea is product like that.
