Ceylon Tea coming from the resplendent island nation, Sri Lanka is recognized for her well balanced tasting profile by tea connoisseurs all over the globe. Sri Lanka Tea Board is the government body which is responsible for international promotion of Pure Ceylon Tea. As Ministry of Foreign Relations had reported, This reputed government organization participated The 27^th International Exhibition for Food, Beverages, and Food Raw Materials – PRODEXPO 2020 – started on 10 February 2020 in Moscow. The Exhibition was held until 14 February 2020 at the Expocentre Fairground in Moscow. This year PRODEXPO brought together 2 600 exhibitors from 70 countries and expected 67 000 visitors from 112 countries.

The Ceylon tea stall was officially opened by Charge d’Affairs of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia Mohamed Anas, Second Secretary (Commercial) Chathurika Perera and delegates of Ceylon tea companies. The official part was followed by refreshments and informal discussions of the plans and the new ways to explore the food market and promote Ceylon tea in Russia.

The PRODEXPO exhibition, which is annually held in Moscow, is a major international show of food and drinks in Russia and Eastern Europe. It is considered to be the most popular platform for foreign enterprises to establish direct connections with retailers, distributors and other representatives of various industries from essential food and beverages to organic, sport and healthy food, halal, kosher, and exotic products.

Here 5 Ceylon Tea companies participated under Sri Lanka Tea Board subsidiary scheme. Twelve other Ceylon Tea companies also exhibited by their own.

a. According to a claim made by the International Standard Organization (ISO), Ceylon tea is the Cleanest Tea origin in the world considering pesticide residues. Sri Lankan authorities have imposed strict regulations on agro-chemical usage in order to meet Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) of European Union (EU) and Japan.

Even though Sri Lanka is a small Island which is also know as “The Pearl of Indian Ocean”, “Asia’s Sweet Heart” and “The Wonder of Asia”, the diversity (Regional difference) of Ceylon Tea is quite amazing. One would enjoy a light, fragrant Nuwara-Eliya Tea from the highest mountain peak with Citrus notes while another is enjoying a strong, full bodied Ruhuna Tea from Ruhuna region situated in the down south.
