Ceylon Tea Shone in Saint Petersburg, Russia

Ceylon Tea coming from the resplendent island nation, Sri Lanka is recognized for her well balanced tasting profile by tea connoisseurs all over the globe. Sri Lanka Tea Board is the government body which is responsible for international promotion of Pure Ceylon Tea. This reputed government body participated the Peterfood International Food Exhibition for Food and Beverage industry, 28th edition of Peterfood Trade Exhibition was held in Saint Petersburg from 19th to 21st November 2019 at Expo Forum in Saint Petersburg in Russia. Two Ceylon Tea exporters exhibited under Sri Lanka Tea Board Pavilion.

Peterfood Trade Exhibition is held in Saint Petersburg since 1991. More than 100 retail chains’ representatives of all leading retail chains of the North-Western region annually visit this exhibition searching for new suppliers.

a. According to a claim made by the International Standard Organization (ISO), Ceylon tea is the Cleanest Tea origin in the world considering pesticide residues. Sri Lankan authorities have imposed strict regulations on agro-chemical usage in order to meet Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) of European Union (EU) and Japan.

Even though Sri Lanka is a small Island which is also know as “The Pearl of Indian Ocean”, “Asia’s Sweet Heart” and “The Wonder of Asia”, the diversity (Regional difference) of Ceylon Tea is quite amazing. One would enjoy a light, fragrant Nuwara-Eliya Tea from the highest mountain peak with Citrus notes while another is enjoying a strong, full bodied Ruhuna Tea from Ruhuna region situated in the down south.
