Champagne of Teas: An Evening with Kevin Gascoyne

Even though Tea is the most consumed beverage after water, it’s not the same in North America (Specially in Canada & USA). But due to emerging health and wellness trend, tea is gaining in popularity specially among younger generation. With this background Tea and Herbal Association of Canada (https://www.tea.ca/) has organized an even called “Champagne of Teas, an Evening with Kevin Gascoyne”

It’s going to be a screening of Kevin Gascoyne’s documentary “Champagne of Teas” and a tea tasting of spring teas from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and India. As Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.ca/) had posted Kevin Gascoyne has been traveling to the Himalayas as a tea-taster and buyer for over 25 years. The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) sent a documentary film crew to follow him on his annual quest for the select lots that represent the finest that the gardens of Darjeeling have to offer.

Following the screening, guests will sample fresh spring teas from Sri Lanka and India and have a Questions & Answers session with Kevin.

About Kevin Gascoyne,

British tea taster Kevin Gascoyne first bought tea in Asia in 1989 and has spent every Spring there for over 25 years. Living in Montréal, he is one of 4 taster/owners of Camellia Sinensis, whose catalogue at camellia-sinensis.com has gained World renown. He lectures all over the planet and runs 2 tea schools, a wide selection of workshops, conferences, field consulting, trade development and seminars. Aside from his obsessive quest for Darjeeling’s finest leaf, he also has a passion for shop keeping in his stores. According to his colleagues his daily tea consumption compares to the flow of some small rivers.

His writing has been published in English, Japanese, Korean, Swedish, Russian and French in N.America, Europe and Asia he is also co-author of the prize-winning book TEA, History, Terroir, Varieties which was recently voted World’s Best Tea Book 2014 by the World Tea Awards.
