Heritance Tea Factory Hotel Reopened for Guests
Tea was first grown commercially in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) by the Scottish planter James Taylor in 1867. Eventually Ceylon Tea became one of the finest tasting teas in the world thanks to her overall, well balanced tasting profile with ideal strength, body, aroma and flavour. Tea lovers from all over the globe grabbed Ceylon Tea with both hands. Before pandemic, tourism was the 3rd largest GDP contributor to Sri Lankan economy. Heritance Tea Factory hotel owned by reputed Aitken Spence group follows the concept of tea tourism. By the meantime, As The Island had reported, Heritance Tea Factory hotel welcomed back guests on 1st October 2020 to its unique hillside property, the only one of its kind in Nuwara Eliya.
Nuwara Eliya is well known as ‘Little England’ for the serene vistas and colonial-style town that resonates the British era.

Great place – full of tea vibes from the past. Have stayed there twice and hope to again as soon as we can travel. We were planning a Sri Lanka tea educational tour this year but had to shelve it. C’est la vie.
