Tea Grown in England to Refresh Kazakhstan !
Tea is a way of life in England. Following Portuguese princess Catherine’s introduction of tea in 1660 AD, this wonderful beverage eventually became the nation’s favorite beverage. Ultimately, tea had the honor of being the national beverage in England. With no doubt, tea provided the refreshment, stimulation, relaxation and good health for Brits to build up a massive empire. Even though English conditions aren’t ideal to grow tea, Few entrepreneurs have made fruitful efforts to grow tea. Devon based Plymouth Tea is one of them. Cornwall based Tregothnan tea is another which says global demand for a British brew has never been higher – and has signed a lucrative with trade deal with Borat’s home country in Kazakhstan. It is worth a total of £145,000 alongside a second deal signed with the US at the same event.
As Cornwall Live had reported, Borat’s home country in Kazakhstan has now placed a £50k order with this reputed Cornish tea firm.
Tregothnan Estate members recently attended an event at Number 10 and landed the major contract with the central Asian country – famous for the character played by Sacha Baron Cohen.
As part of the Kazakhstan deal, which the business secured with a leading distributor, the company was tasked with creating a bespoke English tea. And the company said that the new deals demonstrated the global appeal of the British cuppa around the world.
The business secured the new orders after attending a global networking event at Number 10, hosted by the Department for International Trade (DIT) and the Food is GREAT campaign, where it met the former Ambassador for Kazakhstan.
Jonathon Jones, Managing Director of Trading at Tregothnan, said: “Kazakhstan is the largest consumer of tea with milk after the UK.
Jonathon added “The opportunities for English tea abroad are vast and our new orders in the US and Kazakhstan are testament to this. Since our first overseas sale in 2006, we’ve evolved to become an export-led business. If we can export, you can too.”
Tregothnan tea’s most popular brew – the breakfast tea – was up by more than 100% while Chamomile grew by around 300%.
Overall sales are up around 30% with countries such as China, Singapore and America among those who can’t get enough of their favourite brew.
