The 4th Asia Pacific Tea Competition Recognized Ceylon Tea

Ceylon Tea coming from the resplendent island nation, Sri Lanka is recognized for her well balanced tasting profile by tea connoisseurs all over the globe. By the mean time, As Sri Lanka Tea Board had reported, The “4th Asia Pacific Tea Competition” held at Emeishan City, Hangzhou Province, China on 21st April 2019. This is a global Tea Evaluation activity with the participation of main tea growing nations in the world. The event was organized by Tea Industry Committee of China Association.

The objective of this competition is to set such platform for the tea producing & consuming countries to explore the aspect of production, processing & marketing as well as to promote the cooperation of tea producing & selling among the global tea fraternity.

Some reputed Ceylon Tea producers from Sri Lanka had been participated at the event and recognized as best amongst the contestants. The award winning producers and relevant awards are mentioned below. The awards have been presented by the Chiairman, Sri Lanka Tea Board for award winners at Sri Lanka Tea Board.

A Briefing on Each Producer

1. Pothotuwa Tea Factory: This is one of the most reputed pure orthodox Tea producers in Sri Lanka located in the Ruhuna region of Ceylon. Their BOP grade is often bought by Lipton and fetches the top price at Colombo Tea auctions.

2. Lumbini Tea Factory: Lumbini single estate / single origin teas have already made in roads to North America and Europe. Arguably the most awarded tea factory in the world. I also reported on their 12th annual blood donation campaign on 30th August 2019.

3. Galpaditenna Tea Factory: Known to Sri Lankan Tea exporters as “KDU Super” which produces some of the most stylish Pure Orthodox Black Teas. This reputed tea factory is situated in Sabaragamuwa Tea growing region of Ceylon.

4. Dambatenna Tea Factory: The Tea Factory initiated by Sir Thomas Lipton in 1880s. Yes, this is the starting point of the global giant “Lipton”. This is also the longest tea factory in Sri Lanka and is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in the country.

5. Lovers’ Leap Tea Factory: Situated in the highest peak of Sri Lankan central hills. British Prince Phillip planted a Tea Bush in 1950s and The Tea from their garden “Pedro” was served to the guests participated Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.

So these producers really deserved awards at The Asia Pacific Tea Competition !
