This Police Horse Doesn’t Start His Work without A Morning Tea

Following Portuguese princess Catherine’s introduction of tea to UK in the 17th century, this wonderful beverage eventually became the nation’s favorite. Ultimately, tea had the honour of being the national beverage in England. With no doubt, tea provided the refreshment, stimulation, relaxation and good health for Brits to build up a massive empire. It’s not only people who love tea in UK, but also some animals. This story is about a police horse. As Dailymail UK had reported, Jake a 20-year-old police horse, who has been serving with Merseyside Police for the past 15 years, has picked up a love for sugary tea.

After sticking his tongue in his rider’s cup every day, members of the Merseyside Police Mounted Section now include Jake in their tea round. Police horse Jake commences his shift with a big mug of tea.

Jake enjoys his morning tea with skimmed milk, two heaped teaspoons of sugar and a little cold water mixed in so it isn’t too hot.

Police officers say this horse will even wait in his stable in Allerton, Liverpool, for his special big mug to be brought to him before starting the day.

Lindsey Gaven, Police Mounted Section manager and trainer mentioned: “Jake is one of twelve horses we’ve got at the stable working with us. I’d definitely describe Jake as a horse with a lot of character. We’ve all learnt his tea order – he’ll deal with one sugar, but is definitely happier when you remember to give him two”

Gaven added “If you’re at the side of the stable and he sees you with a mug in your hand, you can guarantee he’ll trot on over to try and steal a slurp.”

Jake often polices football matches and has worked several times as a police horse at Aintree Racecourse overseeing the annual Grand National.

At 20 years old, Jake is due to retire from the force next year.

Even though it’s not clear about the tea base Jake is having, we must appreciate his passion for tea.
